The culture of Floyd, VA has shown to be one of balance between living off the land while still celebrating the joys and magic of sharing life with other people. We believe that providing for each other in ways that respect our resources and honor our spirits are the foundations of a healthy community.

The Music of these Mountains inspires us to share our gifts and join together in social expression. The traditions and culture of Floyd have attracted us from our first visits and every time since. From the weekly jamborees to the explosion of FloydFest, from the the art galleries to the markets, from the homesteads to the farms, we’ve felt welcomed to jump right in and join the experience.

We’ve visited Intentional Communities across the country and in other parts of the world, learning from those that have built special spaces for communal living. This dream seems to have been made possible many times over by the people of Floyd.

The hills of Virginia have deep roots in our history and we are excited to live the life that so many here have shown to be possible.
